Every Performance Clutch mates to a Flywheel, but not all flywheels are created equal. The Flywheel is also an opportunity to enhance performance. More useable power, improved throttle response, reduced shift times, improved acceleration and extended engine life are all made possible by upgrading to a lightened flywheel.

  It’s simple...
Installing a lightened flywheel lowers the moment of inertia characteristics of the engine. Put in simple terms, it reduces the amount of horsepower needed to turn the flywheel, so that horsepower can be used to turn the wheels.

CI Performance is allied with specialist manufacturers such as Fidanza and can offer Lightened Flywheels in three materials:

• Lightened Steel Flywheel
• Chrome Molybdenum (Chrome Molly) Flywheel
• Lightened Aluminium Flywheel

Key features of our lightened flywheel range include:

• The friction surface of our lightened aluminium flywheels is laser cut, a very special process applied to 1050 high carbon alloy steel. Incredibly durable, this alloy is perfect for the friction surface. It allows the use of just about any clutch disc material available from organic to Kevlar and even sintered iron.

• The flywheel itself is made from either 6061 T6 or 2024 T3 aluminum depending on the model. Both of these materials are tempered aluminum which is very, very strong yet very lightweight.

• Ring gears are heat treated for durability. They are heated, pressed on and then secured using grade 10 fasteners. You will not find better materials.

• The friction surface is replaceable, reducing costs over time.
